Partial Augmentations and Brauer Character Values of Torsion Units in Group Rings

چکیده
For a torsion unit u of the integral group ring ZG of a finite group G, and a prime p which does not divide the order of u (but the order of G), a relation between the partial augmentations of u on the p-regular classes of G and Brauer character values is noted, analogous to the obvious relation between partial augmentations and ordinary character values. For non-solvable G, consequences concerning rational conjugacy of u to a group element are discussed, considering as examples the symmetric group S5 and the groups PSL(2, p ).

Torsion Units in Integral Group Ring of the Mathieu Simple Group M22
We investigate the possible character values of torsion units of the normalized unit group of the integral group ring of Mathieu sporadic groupM22. We confirm the Kimmerle conjecture on prime graphs for this group andspecify the partial augmentations for possible counterexamples to the stronger Zassenhaus conjecture.

Using the Luthar–Passi method, we investigate the possible orders and partial augmentations of torsion units of the normalized unit group of integral group rings of Conway simple groups Co1, Co2 and Co3. Let U(ZG) be the unit group of the integral group ring ZG of a finite group G, and V (ZG) be its normalized unit group
متن کاملThe Brauer group of Burnside rings
The Brauer group of a commutative ring is an important invariant of a commutative ring, a common journeyman to the group of units and the Picard group. Burnside rings of finite groups play an important rôle in representation theory, and their groups of units and Picard groups have been studied extensively. In this short note, we completely determine the Brauer groups of Burnside rings: they van...
متن کاملBrauer Groups of Linear Algebraic Groups with Characters
Let G be a connected linear algebraic group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. Then the Brauer group of G is shown to be C X (Q/Z)<n) where C is finite and n = d(d l)/2, with d the Z-Ta.nk of the character group of G. In particular, a linear torus of dimension d has Brauer group (Q/Z)(n) with n as above. In [6], B. Iversen calculated the Brauer group of a connected, char...
